Q. How long does my coverage last?
A.

Your membership is active for one year from the date your employer joins the plan. The expiration date will be noted on your membership card.

Q. Who can I cover as a dependent?
A.

You can enroll your immediate family that is living with you as dependents.

Q. Do I have to enroll my dependents at the same time I activate my card?
A.

Yes, your annual membership activation is made during your company’s enrollment period. At that time you and any indicated dependents are added to the benefits roster provided to Great Expressions dental offices showing who is covered under the program.

Q. How often can I get a free exam and x-rays?
A.

Your annual membership includes one free exam and one free set of x-rays per family member each year, if necessary.

Q. What if my employer cancels or does not renew the program?
A.

Your free membership is based on your company participating in the program. If your company discontinues the program, you can continue visiting Great Expressions locations with your new insurance plan or without. You can also purchase the Smile Protection plan for yourself or your entire family at any Great Expressions office. Employees with outstanding balances for services performed by Great Expressions are still responsible for paying all costs incurred at their dental appointments.

Q. Can the Smile Protection Program be used as a Secondary Insurance?
A.

The Smile Protection Program may not be used in conjunction with any other insurance program, as a secondary Insurance to cover uncovered costs. However, in the event that a patient has reached their annual maximum and any subsequent procedures under their insurance would charge out at full UCR, the Smile Protection Program can be used by these patients, until their benefits renew. This is great way to complete active treatment and maintain a regular schedule of dental visits.

Q. How is this different from traditional dental insurance?
A.

Unlike traditional dental insurance, the Smile Protection Program is a dental discount plan not an insurance program. So there are no claims forms, no deductibles, no pre-authorizations, and no limits on office visits. Your discount is applied directly to your charges at the time of your office visit. And the Smile Protection Employee Dental plan offered by your company is free to you to participate in!

Q. What do I or my family need to do to receive the savings with this program?
A.

Simply activate your card on this website and present the card to the front desk staff when checking-in for the appointment at the office.

Q. Why do I need to activate my membership?
A.

Your employer has made this program available throughout the company, but some of your co-workers can choose not to take advantage of the program. Because we don’t know who is interested in participating, only employees who activate the card for themselves (and family) are added to the active membership roster provided to each dental office verifying eligibility.

Q. Can I use my Smile Protection discount at non Great Expressions dental offices?
A.

No, this program is provided exclusively through Great Expressions Dental Centers with over 120 convenient offices offering general family dentistry, specialty dental care, and orthodontics.

Q. Why do I have to enroll through a website not at a dental office?
A.

Because the Smile Protection Employee Dental plan is offered through your company at no cost to you, it is administered through our insurance eligibility center that provides all Great Expressions locations with consolidated membership rosters of all covered participants.
